SSbD Chemicals and Materials: Methodological Guidance Overview
Ottobre 16, 20242nd Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) Boot Camp - October 2024
The 2nd Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD) Boot Camp will take place from Tuesday, 22 October to Friday, 25 October 2024 in Thessaloniki, Greece, at the KEDEA Building.
Organized as part of the PARC (Partnership for the Assessment of Risk from Chemicals) initiative, the boot camp is designed to provide an in-depth understanding of the SSbD framework and guide participants through the innovation process using real-world applications.
Key Focus
Participants will engage in hands-on training using the PARC SSbD toolbox, a cutting-edge tool designed to apply key concepts like hazard, exposure, risk, environmental, and socio-economic sustainability assessments. This boot camp aims to equip participants with the practical skills required to navigate various levels of data availability—ranging from minimal data ("dry-run") to extensive chemical information—across different stages of innovation in chemical and material development.
Workshop Highlights
• Case Studies: Breakout sessions will enable participants to work in small groups, applying the SSbD framework to case studies. This will familiarize them with the toolbox’s functionality.
• Group Presentations: On the final day, groups will present their findings and user experiences, fostering discussion and feedback.
Application Information
To apply for the workshop, participants are required to submit:
• A short CV showcasing their scientific or technical background.
• A motivation letter.
Submissions should be sent to bootcamp@parc-ssbd.eu by 15 July 2024. Selected participants will be notified by the end of July 2024.
Participation is free, but attendees are expected to cover their own travel and accommodation costs. The workshop will be conducted in English.
